Our friends at Community Climate Resilience have put together something truly special for Thetis Island, and we are proud to be lending our support.

The Nature of Forests Weekend, July 18 & 19, brings together some of the most compelling voices in forest ecology, indigenous knowledge, and fire resilience. From a FireSmart field workshop with retired Salt Spring Fire Captain Mitch Sherrin, to an exploration of the underground fungal world with forest ecologist Dr. Andy MacKinnon, to a deeply grounding conversation with Cheyenne Williams and Sarah Jackman of the Quw'utsun' Cultural Connections Society - this weekend has something to stop you in your tracks.

It wraps up Sunday afternoon with Dr. Richard Hebda tracing the past, present, and future of Gulf Islands forests, followed by an open Q&A panel moderated by Dr. Mary DesChene. Bring your questions and your curiosity.

This event is made possible with the generous support of the Thetis Island Community Fund.
