Join ThINC this summer and gain hands-on experience in environmental education and conservation while enjoying the stunning scenery and outdoor lifestyle of Thetis Island. We’re hiring Environmental Program Coordinators to help run our summer Nature House and stewardship programs.

Position: Environmental Program Coordinator
Work Term: 30-35 hrs/week | $20 - $25/hr
Two positions available:
16-week position: Monday, May 4 - Sunday, August 23
12-week position: Monday, June 1 - Sunday, August 23
Tasks and responsibilities include:
Assist with planning, set-up, and delivery of the summer Nature House program, providing science- and art-based nature education for children, youth, and adults.
Support Sea Life Centre programming, volunteer coordination, and seaquarium upkeep.
Coordinate with guest speakers and volunteers to support programs and events.
Maintain the medicinal-pollinator garden, including planting, weeding, mulching, and watering.
Prepare educational and promotional materials, including blog posts and social media content.
Support community communications via email, social media, and community notifications.
Participate in local conservation and community science projects on Thetis Island (e.g., owl, purple martin, bat, sea star, and green crab monitoring; invasive species removal; Nature Reserve monitoring).
Assist with light maintenance of the Nature House and washroom facilities.
Qualifications:
Must be between 15–30 years of age and a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
Highly motivated, adaptable, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a non-profit setting.
Strong oral and written communication skills; comfortable engaging with the public.
Proficiency with Google Workspace; experience with Canva and social media is an asset.
Knowledge of Gulf Islands terrestrial and marine flora and fauna is an asset.
Experience with native and medicinal plant gardening is an asset.
Education and/or experience in Biology, Environmental Studies, Geography, Natural Resource Management, Education, Sustainability, or related fields is preferred.
Reliable transportation is an asset (mileage reimbursed for work-related travel).
Basic First Aid certification required prior to employment start.
Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
