We wandered through the trail behind Jollity farm to meet the lovely Stephanie Cottell, holding a basket that she weaved herself, full to the brim with plant books. She encouraged us to reconnect with plants through childhood memories, and to connect to the forest plants around us. While meandering through the woods, she introduced us to some forest inhabitants that were new to us, such as yerba buena, a sprawling aromatic herb of the mint family, and spoke on their medicinal properties. Contemplating the ecology, the cultural history, and the simple joys that plants can bring, we all felt a little more engaged with our environment after our forest adventure. We hope you can too, by tuning into our third episode of ThINCpod: Plant connections with Stephanie Cottell!
